Okay. So in my last post I said that we should be in the new house by the end of the month. We are trying to work out the details of the $800 allowance that the builder is giving us for the fridge and we found out that the builder wants to close before the end of the month. He is even willing to pay the extra intrest that we would have to pay because of the early close. The inspection is scheduled for Monday. So we'll see what happens then.

We bought furniture. Boy did we ever buy furniture. We nought it for our room, Chris's room. The dining room and living room. The only thing we didn't buy was the mattresses for our beds. We still need to buy the washer and dryer and of course the fridge and the tv's that we want.

I applied for a job with Directv. Keeping my fingers crossed that I get the job. Would love to work for them!!

Well, gotta go for now! Hopefully all is well and everyone is good.

Michelle

We have found our new house!

After much looking and relooing we have finally found our new house. We have been pre-approved for the loan and have submitted our proposal to the builder. Yes, I said builder! We are buying a new house! It's still under construction and should be ready by the end of the month! Yippee!! I have posted a link to a video that Michael did.

We are very excited! The lot is huge and the builder was going to put in a fridge. Well, we already know which one we want, so I asked the realtor if they could give us an allowance towards the fridge we want instead. She called the realtor that the builder is using and she said that they would give us an $800 allowance towards the new fridge! So we are going the happy dance now.

They accepted our proposal and we gave them a check for earnest money.

One more thing. The house is so close to the school Chris will go to. We could just about throw a stone and hit it. Even though it's that close, he will still ride the bus. The reason? No sidewalks. So they want to make sure the kids are safe. Big change from Florida.

Well, gotta go now. Hope everything is well with everyone.

Michelle

Finally!

Well, we finally closed on our house. The final papers were signed a week ago Thursday. We are finally free of South FL. Yeah!

We have been looking at houses here. So far we have a few possibilities. One of them is much closer to Michael's job, but it would mean that Chris would have to change schools again. So, we are still looking.

Speaking of Chris. It looks like they might be putting him in an advanced math class. He took a test last week and out of 42 problems he only missed two. Actually, I think he would have only missed one, but he didn't do the last problem, so he missed two. LOL! Also, he told me last night that he loves this school. So, it looks like this was the right choice for him.

One of the houses that we are looking at is on Earnhardt Drive. LOL! I know, I can't get away from racing no matter how hard I try. The subdivision is called "Bristol Ridge". LOL! The other street is Short Track Road. It's funny actually. The house is nice and the area is actually a favorite of Madison County police officers. We counted at least five police cars parked in the driveways. Chris said it was seven, but I think he counted a few of the twice. LOL!

Well, that's all for now.

Gas prices and other random things...

Okay, I'm not sure what the price of gas is in other places. But as of yesterday we are paying $2.49 a gallon. The price of gas has went down .20 cents since we have been here. That is just incredible.

We are going to Chris's school tonight. I guess it is for their open house. It's called cirriculam night. Should be fun.

The temperature. As of right now the temperature is 100 degrees. The humidity is only 16%. I think that is rather incredible. It isn't really as bad as it is down in Florida. It's a dry heat. It kind of feels like you are opening an oven door when you walk outside, but you quickly get used to it. I don't sweat nearly as much here as I did down there. Oh and I haven't had to use my inhaler once. Big change from down there.

Well, I am going to go now. Gotta get ready for tonight. Oh, and I am hiding in my bedroom right now because there is a wasp out in the living room. LOL! I really am a big chicken.

Michelle

I don't think I am ever going to fit in anywhere. I got a notice from Chris's school about joining the PTA. I was all excited about it until I read that all of the mom's on the board are working mom's. Sigh. I had the opposite problem in Florida. I worked and all the other mom's stayed home. Michael says that I am looking at this the wrong way. I can't help but be upset. Oh well. I guess I'll join and see what happens.

I met one of the next door neighbors. She seems very nice. The funny thing is that we met thru our dogs. I let Buddy out to go to the bathroom and didn't put him on his leash. Well, she had the same idea so the dogs started barking at each other and because Buddy thinks he is 10 times bigger than he actually is, he went over to investigate. It was pretty funny actually.

I am still having a hard time finding my way around. I am just starting to get the directions down (Now I know how you feel Betsy! LOL!!). I just know that we turn left to go into town and we turn right to go to Tennessee. LOL!! Anything else and I am pretty much lost. Thank goodness Michael drives most of the time. Oh, and we have a GPS so if I was driving myself and got lost I could still find my way home. Hopefully. LOL!!

Chris is doing good in school and has already made some new friends. There is one other Christopher in his class. Because Chris's last name starts with an "A" he got to choose what to be called. He chose Chris. LOL! Like I was expecting anything else.

Well, I'm gonna sign off for now. Hope everything is going good.

Michelle

I have decided that the people here have got to have a wonderful sense of humor.

Last night we were driving to pick up some food. Well, I saw a sign that read: August ?? Watermelon Wrestling. I had to do a double take. I looked again on the way back and sure enough that was what it said. I bust out laughing. I am going to try and get a picture and post a link to it here.

I am really liking it here. The only thing that is taking A LOT of getting used to is the hills. Although to this Florida girl they look like mountains. LOL!! One other thing that is hard getting used to is that most of the people here are very polite. I was walking in the grocery store today and said "Excuse me." To a woman that I was walking in front of and she replied "That's okay honey." I nearly died from surprise.

Anyway, not much new is going on today.

Michelle
